XtraView FAQs

How does XtraView work?
XtraView links two or three decoders on one subscription, so you can watch different channels in different rooms without paying for separate accounts. One decoder is the primary, the others are secondary, and they must stay connected to each other to keep working.
Can I just split the cable to a second TV?
No. A splitter gives you the same channel on both TVs, and can weaken the signal to both. For genuinely independent viewing you need a second decoder linked with XtraView, and usually a second cable run from the dish.
Which decoders can be linked?
Most current Explora and HD decoders can be paired, but not every combination is allowed. We check what you already own before you buy anything, so you do not end up with a decoder that cannot be linked.
Why does XtraView keep disconnecting?
Usually a heartbeat problem: the decoders have lost contact with each other. It can be cabling, a power interruption or an account issue. After load shedding it is very common and often just needs the link re-established properly.
Is it worth it for a holiday house in Betty's Bay?
Usually yes. If guests or family are sharing the house, one TV and one channel becomes a problem quickly. Setting it up correctly once is far cheaper than repeated callouts.
Can you add a third room later?
Yes, up to the limit your package allows. It is easier if we plan the cable runs at the first visit, so mention it even if you only want the extra room later.
