How long does a new DStv installation take in Betty's Bay?
A standard single-view installation at a home in Betty's Bay usually takes about one to two hours. It depends on your wall type and where the dish has to go. Betty's Bay is squeezed between the Kogelberg mountains and the sea on the R44, with many houses standing empty between visits and baboons active on roofs, so we always check the signal path before drilling anything. If you need extra TV points or cable run through a long roof space, allow a bit longer.
What is included in a new installation?
The dish and bracket, mounting and precise alignment, RG6 coaxial cable to your TV point, decoder connection, smartcard activation and a full signal test before we leave. We tidy the cable runs rather than leaving them hanging, and we take the packaging away with us.
Do I need a bigger dish because of the Overberg weather?
For most homes in Betty's Bay a standard 60cm dish is correct. What matters far more is solid mounting and accurate alignment. With mountain wind off the Kogelberg, salt spray and dense fynbos, a dish that is slightly off but reads fine on a calm day will drop out in the first real front. We align to the correct signal quality figure, not just to a picture appearing.
Can you install at a house that is empty most of the year?
Yes, and it is worth doing it properly the first time. A holiday house that stands empty needs weatherproofed connectors and stainless fixings, because nobody is there to notice a small fault until it becomes a big one. We can arrange access with your caretaker or agent.
Which decoder should I get?
For one TV, an HD decoder is enough. If you record, pause live TV or want streaming apps built in, the Explora Ultra is the better long-term choice. If you want different channels in different rooms, you need XtraView with a second decoder rather than a splitter.
Do you install on face-brick, plaster or timber walls?
All of them. Homes around Kleinmond, Pringle Bay, Rooi Els and the Kogelberg vary a lot, and each wall type needs different anchors. We carry the right fixings for brick, plaster, concrete and timber, and near the coast we use stainless steel so the bracket does not bleed rust down your wall.
